Overview

Oregon Ballet Theatre (OBT) is a classically-based professional ballet company, established in 1989, in Portland, Oregon. The company performs an annual season of programs at the Keller Auditorium and Newmark Theatre while participating in many community events as well as regional and national touring.

OBT has grown from being a respected regional company to one of national significance, as evidenced by the invitation to perform at the Kennedy Center in 2008, as part of the “Ballet Across America” series in 2013 and Wolf Trap in 2014. The recent additions of Artistic Director, Kevin Irving, and Executive Director, Dennis Buehler, position OBT for significant growth opportunities in the years to come.

In addition to the performing company, The School of Oregon Ballet Theatre is recognized as one of the premiere ballet schools in the country. Director of Marketing and Communications

GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY:
Oregon Ballet Theatre seeks a driven leader responsible for leading a team in their broad based support of implementing policies, procedures, strategies and tactics related to the marketing, sales and communication efforts throughout all aspects of Oregon Ballet Theatre. This individual will work closely with the School, Education Outreach, Community, and Professional Company in order to meet goals and solidify branding and name recognition. The position reports to the Executive Director and works with all departments to meet specific revenue goals including, but not limited to, ticket sales, tuition enrollment, and contributed income. The position will protect and build the Oregon Ballet Theatre brand within the organization, the regional community, state of Oregon, nationally, and internationally.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS:
We are looking for an experienced and collaborative leader who has at least three years of experience and progressive responsibilities in marketing, sales, and managerial experience, with a proven track record of success in a highly dynamic environment. While not required, successful candidates would have specific experience within the field of dance or the performing arts.

School Director

Full-time

GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY:
The School Director is responsible for the overall management and success of the Oregon Ballet Theatre School and all its locations. The School currently operates at two locations in Portland and West Linn. The School Director reports to both the Artistic Director (AD) and Executive Director (ED). The position is multi-faceted with wide range of responsibilities and requires coordination with all Oregon Ballet Theatre (OBT) internal departments and relevant external organizations. The Director must be able to shift from management responsibilities to serving as an instructor, performer, and public speaker. The Director helps to develop policies and objectives for the school program. The Director supervises school administrative staff, and part-time school instructors and accompanists.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates will have the ability to design, and plan and direct ballet education programs using specific, sequential curricula; and possess the skills to teach ballet classes at all levels.  The ideal candidate will be a dedicated pedagogue with a proven track record of training ballet dancers from a young age and placing them as apprentices, company members, or in top schools; shall have a thorough knowledge of and commitment to the forms and techniques of classical ballet; shall have established contacts in the national community of schools and companies; and shall be a strong and inspiring presence in the studio with an ability to motivate students to excellence. Candidate will hire, train and evaluate instructors and accompanists; evaluate students, prepare progress reports, determine school level placements, and produce the annual school performance.  Candidates’ responsibilities include developing and monitoring an annual budget, overseeing school scholarship and wellness programs, preparing regular reports for the committees and board of trustees and serving as spokesperson and for the school and Oregon Ballet Theatre.  Candidates must be able to pass a thorough background check.

School Registrar

Part-time

GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY:
The School Registrar is responsible for the School of Oregon Ballet’s registration process, ensuring the integrity of the School database, serving as the first point of contact for the School.  The role requires the ability to communicate and coordinate with various constituencies from students and parents to staff and the general public. A background in project management or previous experience as a registrar or similar role with proficiency in managing a contact management database and accounting system, as well as a strong aptitude to manage to deadlines and work in a dynamic environment, are essential.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS:
We seek self-motivated candidates who have a minimum one year receptionist experience in an office or school role and a proven ability to deal with fast-paced client interactions.  Successful candidate will be responsible for school registration, class rosters and attendance tracking; work closely with the Business Office on account setup and collections; and assist School Administrator with school communications and coordination of school programs, rehearsals and performances.  Additionally, candidate will open and close school facilities and provide marketing support as needed. Stitcher (Wardrobe)

Part-time, Seasonal

GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY:
The Stitcher reports to the Costume Shop Supervisor and shall be tasked primarily with altering and repairing costumes for Oregon Ballet Theatre’s production of Alice (in Wonderland). The successful candidate will work independently and as a team player. The role requires the ability to communicate and coordinate with various constituencies from artists and staff, and sometimes vendors and contractors. Knowledge of costume shop operations, or previous experience as a Stitcher, with strong aptitude to manage deadlines and budgets, and work in a dynamic environment, are essential.
