Welcome to
OBT Education and Community Engagement

Education and Community Engagement’s Mission is to:

  • SHARE meaningful, high-quality dance experiences with students, families, and communities
  • INSPIRE children and adults to use their bodies in new and different ways through dance
  • CONNECT with the community by removing physical and cultural barriers and providing greater access to dance
  • OBT Education and Community Engagement is dedicated to sharing the experience of dancers from all races and backgrounds who have had significant influence on ballet. We recognize ballet’s historically racial prejudice and female stereotypes. Teaching artists are at work undoing those stereotypes and helping all students see themselves as dancers.

    Impact

    • In-person dance residencies resumed in public schools
    • Over 5000 students, educators and families served
    • 77% of schools are Title 1 Schools
    • 51% of students identify as BIPOC, 32% are emergent bilingual
