This is an exciting time to work at Oregon Ballet Theatre (OBT), a classically-based professional ballet company, established in 1989, in Portland, Oregon. The company performs an annual season of programs while participating in many community events, as well as regional and national touring.

OBT has grown from being a respected regional company to one of national significance as evidenced by the invitation to perform at the Kennedy Center in 2008, the “Ballet Across America” series in 2013, and Wolf Trap in 2014. Under the leadership of Artistic Director Kevin Irving, OBT has continued to make its mark nationally. While maintaining a strong classical foundation, the company has broadened its contemporary repertory, and produced thematic programs touching on issues such as race, the environment, and gender roles. OBT has developed a reputation for breaking the boundaries of what people expect from a night at the ballet.

The OBT School is recognized as one of the premiere ballet schools in the country. OBT’s work in dance education includes a far reaching community engagement program connecting with students and adults throughout Portland and Oregon.

GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY

Oregon Ballet Theatre seeks a driven and detail orientated person to serve as Marketing Manager and assistant to the Director of Marketing and Communications. The successful candidate will support the department by strategic planning, executing, support and evaluation of all Single Ticket and Subscription campaigns for OBT‘s main stage productions as well as collaborating with OBT School staff in support of growing student body. The role will take a lead in developing social media strategy, content, and monitoring engagement.


RESPONSIBLITIES & QUALIFICATIONS

OBT’s Marketing Manager is an integral member of the team, contributing to the strategic planning, execution, support, and evaluation of all single ticket and subscription campaigns for OBT’s main stage productions, and collaborating with OBT School staff in growing its student body. This position takes a lead in developing social media strategy and content, and monitoring engagement.

This position will: administer annual media plans; manage Google AdWords and paid display campaigns; create reports on digital performance and conversions; project manage publication of performance playbills, acting as liaison between OBT and vendor(s); write social media, newsletters and advertising copy; oversee promotional activities; and serve as institutional coordinator for all front-of-the house activities at promotional and special events. The Marketing Manager will support OBT’s commitment to connect and share ballet with communities of color, and identify ways to make ballet more accessible across all OBT communications.

We seek candidates with three-five years of professional, volunteer and/or lived experience in marketing, with a track record of achieving goals, preferably in the performing arts.
