Brian Simcoe is from Grants Pass, Oregon, where he trained with Penny King and Sylvia Bolton. From there he went on to train with Long Beach Ballet, Pacific Northwest Ballet School, and the School of Oregon Ballet Theatre. Initially an apprentice with OBT in 2004, he rose up through the ranks and was promoted to soloist in 2011, and to principal in 2013. While he has performed a wide variety of work throughout his career, by choreographers such as George Balanchine, James Kudelka, Nacho Duato, Christopher Wheeldon, and William Forsythe, some of his favorite featured roles include Jerome Robbins’ Afternoon of a Faun, Nicolo Fonte’s Petrouchka, Yuri Possokhov’s La Valse, and Romeo in James Canfield’s Romeo and Juliet.
