Anyone passionate about supporting the arts is welcome to apply. We only ask that volunteers be at least 16 years of age or older. Seasoned ballet enthusiasts or new to the art form, OBT appreciates the time spent applying and the interest in supporting the arts.
No prior ballet experience is required. OBT will provide any necessary training to help volunteers feel confident and prepared.
Absolutely! OBT deeply appreciates everyone who takes the time to support the organization in caring for the dancers. A few areas include physical therapists, Pilates instructors, nutritionists, and more. Attend orientations or reach out to volunteer@obt.org to receive the SignUp Login information where you can sign up for different opportunities. Please do not call the Box Office. Training is provided either verbally or in written instructions before the task or event. Note that all volunteers who are new to working backstage and are interested in chaperoning student performers are required to attend the annual Backstage Orientation and also must pass a background check.
OVATION offers long-term assignments, one day assignments and assignments no longer than an hour; OBT strives for variety and flexibility amongst volunteers to cover as many OBT needs as possible. Every effort will be made to accommodate a volunteer’s first choice of assignment; however, assignments cannot be guaranteed and may be changed with little notice based on business need.
Volunteers are expected to perform their assignments as scheduled. Volunteers are required to show up 15 minutes early for assignments and let the assignment liaison know when the assignment is complete. If a volunteer is unable to meet a commitment, communication is required at least 3 hours in advance of the event. Volunteers are not allowed to contact other volunteers to cover assignments.
Yes. Benefits range based on hours volunteered in a 12 month period. At a minimum, all OVATION members receive a copy of the annual Season Guide and a 10% discount on performance tickets.
