Karl Pil is a 2nd-year Company Apprentice with Oregon Ballet Theatre and a graduate of the University of North Carolina School of the Arts (UNCSA), where he earned a BFA in Classical Ballet under the tutelage of Mikhail Tchoupakov and Ilya Kozadayev. While at UNCSA, Karl was mentored in Dance Pedagogy by Dayna Fox and gained experience teaching ballet in the UNCSA High School Department. Karl currently teaches Strength and Conditioning at OBT School and collaborates with OBT’s Company Physical Therapist, Nadia Chopra, to implement injury-prevention training. A certified Classical Pilates Mat Instructor, Karl emphasizes alignment, core strength, and mobility. Through teaching, he prioritizes work ethic, motivation, movement quality, and creativity, striving to make dance inspiring and accessible for all. Karl is pursuing a master’s degree in industrial organizational psychology through Harvard Extension School. He is also a certified Racial Equity Consciousness Facilitator through the University of Pittsburgh and serves on OBT’s Culture Committee.
