Kangmi Kim is from Seoul, South Korea, where she received her training at Sunhwa Arts High School. In 2016, she moved to New York to study on full scholarship at the American Ballet Theatre Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis School. That same year, she was named a semifinalist at the prestigious Prix de Lausanne.
Kangmi joined OBT2 in 2017, became an OBT apprentice in 2019, and was promoted to Company Artist in the 2021–22 season. Since then, she has continued to excel on stage and can now be seen featured in both soloist and principal roles across the company’s repertory. In addition to her classical ballet credentials, she holds a Character Dance Teacher Certificate, further broadening her expertise as an educator.
Kangmi has been a valued teacher in the OBT School, supporting workshops and intensives, and she is delighted to officially join the 2025–26 faculty. She looks forward to sharing her artistry and international perspective with the next generation of dancers.
