Eva Burton joined Oregon Ballet Theatre as a dancer in 2010 and quickly distinguished herself through her artistry, professionalism, and work ethic. She was promoted to soloist in 2016 and to principal dancer in 2020. On stage, Eva has performed an extraordinary range of repertoire, including works by George Balanchine, William Forsythe, Trey McIntyre, Nicolo Fonte, James Kudelka, Nacho Duato, Yuri Possokhov, Jiří Kylián, and August Bournonville. Her notable roles include Cinderella in Ben Stevenson’s Cinderella, Princess Aurora in Christopher Stowell’s The Sleeping Beauty, the Sugarplum Fairy in Balanchine’s The Nutcracker, and the Sylph in Bournonville’s La Sylphide.
Born in Los Angeles, Eva received her early training from Patrick Frantz before joining the San Francisco Ballet School’s Trainee Program. She began teaching in 2015 and officially joined the faculty of OBT School in 2023. As a leading teacher representing the School’s new curriculum, she has quickly established herself as a vital member of the faculty.
Students not only benefit from her expertise in the studio but are also inspired by seeing her regularly featured in leading roles across OBT’s repertory. Eva’s teaching emphasizes strong technique as the foundation for self-expression and artistry, and she brings the same discipline, joy, and passion to her classes that have defined her celebrated career on stage.
