Bailey Shaw is from Raleigh, North Carolina, and began his ballet training at Wake Forest Civic Ballet at the age of 14. Upon graduating high school, he trained under Patricia McBride and Jean-Pierre Bonnefoux at the Charlotte Ballet Academy (2015) and continued his studies at Miami City Ballet School. From 2017–2019, he danced with BalletMet’s second company under the direction of Edwaard Liang. Bailey joined Oregon Ballet Theatre as an apprentice in 2019, became a company artist in the 2020–2021 season, and was promoted to soloist in the 2024–2025 season. His standout performances include Edwaard Liang’s Wunderland, Alonzo King’s Chants, and George Balanchine’s Tchaikovsky Pas de Deux and Valse Fantaisie.

Bailey has been teaching for eight years, beginning his teaching career in Columbus, Ohio, shortly after launching his professional performance career. Since joining OBT, he has taught regularly in the School of OBT and has also had the opportunity to teach and choreograph for schools throughout the Pacific Northwest. Bailey is committed to helping students grow in a safe, encouraging, and disciplined environment, while also challenging them to reach their fullest potential. He is excited to officially join the OBT School faculty for the 2025–26 school year.
