Dance Instructors All Levels

Position
OBT School seeks qualified instructors to teach ballet and movement classes for levels ranging from Pre-Ballet through Level 6. This includes Creative Movement, Primary, and Character classes.
Teaching assignments and curriculum will be determined in collaboration with the School Director and aligned with OBT’s set curriculum and pedagogical goals. The curriculum for Levels Primary through Level 3 is based on the CPYB syllabus. Levels 3P–6 follow curriculum inspired by The Royal Ballet School and Paris Opera Ballet School.
Teachers for Creative Movement and Pre-Ballet will have more flexibility in shaping class content.
Instructors for non-ballet movement classes will collaborate with the School Director to ensure appropriate level placement and instruction.
Some positions may involve choreographing for our Annual School Performance or leading in-studio demonstrations (Petit Dancer Performances for levels Pre-Ballet, CreativeMovement and Primary).
Responsibilities
- Teach weekly classes as scheduled.
- Prepare class updates for students’ families
- Plan classes according to the new curriculum.
- Study curriculum for levels Primary through 6, as applicable
- Attend meetings and curriculum training as needed
- Collaborate regularly with the School Director on student progress and class content
- Potential to choreograph 2–4 minute pieces for student performances
- Ability to lead Creative Movement, Pre-Ballet, and Primary level demonstration
- Ability to rehearse students for the Annual School Performance
- Uphold studio code of conduct and OBT values
- Foster a welcoming, respectful learning environment for all students
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- Minimum of 8 years in professional ballet training
- Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in the following:
- Professional ballet school setting
- Positive reinforcement teaching style for young children
- Choreography with children
- Ability to effectively utilize time in class and running rehearsals within time allowed
- Must be able to multi-task and move fluidly between the roles of this position.
- Requires a team-oriented person who understands the dynamic of working with a diverse team to achieve organizational goals.

- Candidates must be able to pass a thorough background check.
Computer Skills:
- Basic understanding of computer and email processes.
