Our summer Primary Ballet term consists of one class per week for 6 weeks. For a more exciting and fun-packed summer of training sign up for two or all three days for 6 weeks. Students take class in four segments of learning: mat work, barre, rhythm and center work. This class introduces students to a more formal class format with professional expectations of ballet positions at the barre and beginner port de bras and traveling movements in the center. Croisé is introduced for the first time in center. Students must be able to execute clear barre work with strong knees & feet and understand center arm movements before graduating. This foundational level is a great way to prepare for the coming school year and prepares the necessary building blocks for Level 1.

Ballet training and repertory workshop, paired with creative composition to build self-confidence and artistic expression. We will explore magical story ballets during our time together. The two-hour workshop will begin with an hour of OBT School’s curriculum training. Preceding this class, they will learn choreography inspired by famous classical ballet stories, including The Sleeping Beauty, Coppélia, Swan Lake, Snow White, Firebird, and Cinderella. The last 30 minutes of the last day of camp will be open to observation.

Summer Junior Intensive (8-14)

Junior intensive is designed for young dancers ages 8 to 14 who are eager to immerse themselves in dance and take their ballet training to the next level. Each day will include ballet technique classes to develop strong foundations and facilitate a deeper understanding of the art form. Students will also participate in supplemental classes that include ballet repertory, pre-pointe, pirouette classes, Nutcracker preparation, stage acting, Irish step, jazz, flamenco, hip hop, contemporary dance, improvisation, conditioning, and more!

Students new to OBT School will be placed in a training track by the faculty on the first day of classes. Assessment is based on the student’s current training matching our curriculum. OBT School students register based on their current level.
