The 160-year-old Bolshoi Theatre, venue for the original production of the beloved Tchaikovsky ballet Swan Lake, reopened in 2011 after a major renovation. The restoration, a balance between contemporary upgrades and returning the theater to its original, fantastical décor, is said to give one the feeling of sitting inside a Fabergé Imperial Egg. In effect, this iconic home to the renowned Bolshoi Ballet, is old, yet delightfully new again.
Oregon Ballet Theatre Artistic Director, Kevin Irving, captures this same idea in his February 2017 adaptation of Swan Lake. This highly anticipated world premiere will re-animate the most treasured classical ballet of all time and set the stage for our annual gala production of The Bolshoi Ball.
Performance by Chervona.
