SYNOPSIS
We close the season with four Portland performances of RUSH, the Christopher Wheeldon masterpiece we took to Washington DC for our Kennedy Center debut. We also pay tribute to the memory of a true American icon in Jerome Robbins. From the lighthearted comic genius of The Concert to the dark and savage romanticism of The Cage, we display the full range of both the choreographer’s unsurpassed brilliance and our dancers’ versatility.
“It would be impossible to imagine American dance or the musical theater in the second half of the 20th century without Robbins.” — Variety
“A giant of ballet and Broadway.” — The New York Times
“America’s first great native-born ballet
choreographer.” —Time Magazine
