ABOUT EMERY LECRONE
THE JEROME ROBBINS NEW ESSENTIAL (NEW) WORKS PROGRAM
The Jerome Robbins New Essential Works (NEW) Program seeks to support crucial dance elements during the current financial crisis. In the belief that new work must be created to help dance companies and dance as a field remain a viable and relevant part of the American arts sector, the NEW Program provides for the commissioning of new dance works and endeavors to foster networking of these new works amongst dance companies and presenters to engage a larger audience.
In Jerome Robbins name, grants are awarded to companies, presenting organizations, and in certain cases to individual choreographers. These grants support the creation of new works intended to help the art form weather today’s challenges, thereby securing its future creative purpose.
The NEW Program does not accept applications. Grantees are identified by a nominating panel led by Program Director Damian Woetzel and the Directors of The Jerome Robbins Foundation.
