Stage experience aids students in the development of confidence and presence necessary to perform for an audience.
COMPANY PERFORMANCES
OBT's 2011/2012 season presents the opportunity for SOBT students to perform in George Balanchine's The Nutcracker during the holidays. All students, Level 1 and higher are encouraged to participate in The Nutcracker. Full rehearsal, production, and performance participation is mandatory for Level 6 students, Pre-Professional Division students, Apprentices, and all scholarship students. Casting is based on technical skill, height, and costume constraints. An audition is required (September 11, 2011, morning). Selected students will be asked to perform with the OBT Company in Christopher Stowell's Carmen during OBT's Fall program in October 2011.
Student Performance Series (April Performances)
As part of OBT's Education and Outreach program, OBT Company artists and SOBT students perform age-appropriate programs for youth groups and school classes during the school day. An audition is not required.
2011 Annual School Performance (April performances)
Each spring, SOBT students in Level 1 and higher have the opportunity to participate in the Annual School Performance, held in the Newmark Theatre. Participation is strongly encouraged for all students and is mandatory for scholarship students. During our Annual School Performance rehearsal period (January through April), classes may be combined or canceled to accommodate rehearsal. Technique class will never be canceled, although it may be combined with another level. Being cast in a performance is not guaranteed. The program will consist of works chosen to elevate students' technical development and artistry. As a testament to the quality of their training, the students consistently deliver commanding performances of a professional caliber. An audition is not required.
SOBT students receive one ticket at a 50% discount to one performance of each OBT program. This ticket is for use by the student only. Please be prepared to show SOBT ID or Stage Pass if asked by Box Office staff or theatre personnel.
