OBSERVATION

As a courtesy to our students and teachers who need to be able to conduct class without any distractions, the School has a strict no observation policy for all its classes. We do invite parents into the classroom once a year on Parent Observation Days (May 28, 29 or 30 based on a student’s level).

SCHOOL BULLETIN BOARDS & MAILINGS

Important updates regarding class and rehearsal schedules and school policies will be posted on the School blog, bulletin board, mailed or handed out. Please direct your attention to these items, as this is the only means we have of getting essential information to parents and students.

PARKING

The lot to the front and sides of our building is for OBT employee use, by permit only, during business hours, 8am-5pm, Mon – Fri. Please be courteous to our staff and find parking near the studios if you intend to wait in your car for your student or have business in the school office. Older students who drive are encouraged to park in the lot after 5pm for safety and proximity to the studios. On Saturdays our lot will be available for open parking, except for spaces 17 - 19, which are reserved for school staff.

STUDENT DROP-OFF & PICK-UP

On the first day of class, parents should find street parking and escort their student into the building, leaving once class begins. Be sure to speak to the Security Officer before you leave and let him know who is approved to pick up your child. After the first day, students should be dropped off and picked up at the front door. Students are to be picked up no later than 15 minutes after class is over. Staff are responsible for students when they are in the building and cannot end their shift until all students are accounted for. Your timeliness is appreciated.

LATE PICK-UP POLICY

If you experience a problem and are unable to pick up your student in a timely manner, please call the Security Officer and report your delay: 503-890-5827. We recommend either keeping this number in your car, or programming it into your cell phone, along with the school number: 503-227-6890, in order to have it on hand in case of emergencies. PARENTS WILL BE CHARGED A $25 PER 15 MIN. FEE FOR ANY TIME OBT STAFF MUST WAIT BEYOND THE APPROPRIATE WINDOW FOR TIMELY PICKUP.

RIGHT TO REFUSE SERVICES

The School of Oregon Ballet Theatre reserves the right to deny service, enrollment, or previously awarded privileges at the discretion of the school staff.

STUDENT SAFETY

Our students’ safety is a top priority for us. The School of Oregon Ballet Theatre collaborates with its students, staff, parents, and security team to ensure we are providing the safest possible environment for everyone. Students and parents should review the following guidelines: 

Arrival:
Please check-in with the Security Guard or School Receptionist when you arrive for class or rehearsal. 

Dressing Rooms:
The student dressing rooms downstairs are unsupervised. Students in Pre-Ballet thru Level IIB are only allowed in the dressing room area with permission from an adult and must check back in when they return. Students in Level IIA and higher are assigned lockers, and may use the dressing rooms without prior permission.  Please remember, though, that this area is unsupervised by adults and students should report any cause for concern to the school staff immediately.

Departure:
Students must be released by the security guard before leaving the building.  Parents should checkout with the Security Guard before departing with their child.  If different arrangements are being made for pickup please notify the school in advance.
