A native of Kumamoto Japan, Makino joined Colorado Ballet in 2002 as an Apprentice and was promoted to Corps de Ballet in 2004. Makino joined OBT in 2010.
Makino has performed the role of Zolma in Jean Coralli and Jules Perrot's Giselle and the Odalisques in Marius Petipa's Le Corsaire. She has been featured in works by Christopher Wheeldon, Paul Taylor, Michael Pink and Darrell Grand Moltrie among others.
Makino has performed as a Guest Artist with the Washington Ballet, Festival Ballet Providence, The State Street Ballet and the Okamoto Ballet Company in Japan.
Makino studied at the Kumomoto Ballet in Japan under Seiko Ban.
