Here is a scene from Act I of Nutcracker: The Motion Picture, a film version of the ballet created by Kent Stowell (founder of Pacific Northwest Ballet and father of our own Artistic Director Christopher Stowell). The production was designed by the author and illustrator Maurice Sendak who is probably most famous for his children’s book Where the Wild Things Are. It’s a unique take on the standard Act I “party scene” and it feels like Sendak’s signature creatures are lurking just below the surface.

And don’t forget, we’re giving you the opportunity to save up to 50% off your Nutcracker tickets when you buy in July using promo code SUMMERSNOW!
